The Outer Banks Motel was established in 1955 by the Dillons, a family with generations of ties to the area. It's location as an oceanfront Hatteras Island motel puts you steps away from the beautiful sandy beach, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, fishing and surfing. And just across the street are the serene waters of the Pamlico Sound where you can boat or crab and let little ones not quite ready for the ocean waves enjoy getting wet.
The Outer Banks Motel is within walking distance (if you prefer!) to restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores, tackle shops, clothing stores and watersports outfitters.

A Hatteras Island vacation is often described as experiencing the Outer Banks as they were 40 years ago.
Unlike our neighbors to the north, this area is quieter, less developed and has a notable laid back attitude.
As you travel the two-lane N.C.
Highway 12, with the sound to the west and the ocean to the east, you'll notice that most of the area, except for the small towns that dot the road, is undeveloped since it's owned by the National Park Service, which provides a vista that's the same as you would have seen 200 years ago.
