Our Grandmother, fondly known for generations as "Ma Perkins", opened the family's first motel here on her own in 1970, the Riviera.
She was quite something, and was truly one of Myrtle Beach's founding pioneers, working very hard with the other original hoteliers to establish the resort that Myrtle Beach is known world wide for today.
Our Dad, David Perkins joined his Mom "Ma" after college and togehter they operated and built a tremendous business at the Hurl Rock Motel.

2. What is the difference between Ocean Front, Ocean View, No View, Street View room types?
The motel is located directly on the ocean but the views of the ocean vary.
Ocean Front rooms face directly toward the ocean.
Ocean View rooms have a nice view of the ocean at about 45 degree angle.
NO View rooms are all located on the first floor and may have a partical view of the ocean, a pool fence, a parking lot, or a retainer wall.
Street View rooms face toward the street and do not have a view of the ocean.
