My wife and I stayed over the weekend during our bike trip and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and ready. Staff was very attentive to our needs. The Inn is updated but still has that old "travel lodge" feeling I used to get when I traveled as a kid. When we return to the area, we will be staying at Inn of the Hills. We stumbled across this place when booking a last minute trip to Fredericksburg.
While this was a little out of the way of our destination it was well worth the drive. The grounds are lovely and well-kept, our room was clean and spacious, the restaurant was delicious, and the staff was wonderful. These folks hosted our son's wedding, which involved use of several facilities at different times. We have a large family and used several rooms as well as their conference center.
Every staff member, from sales to service desk, bent over backwards to make our stay perfect. I highly recommend them. Home to over 400 species of fine feathered friends, Hill Country offers both expert birders and bird-watching enthusiasts a rich and fulfilling experience.

In 1963, entrepreneur Gene Lehmann began construction of a lodge just west of town.
The locals smiled about his project, predicting little chance of success.
Undeterred by the chitchat, Lehmann moved ahead, obtaining a first-rate architectural firm to design his vision for a resort hotel.
From wrought-iron handrails to solid timbers imported from Canada, he spared no expense.
A cozy restaurant called "The Heart" served delicious food, and two meeting rooms soon catered to social events, a novel addition to the community at the time.
