Aldrich Guest House
Seating in the dining room, the parlor, the library and the screened porch weather permitting. You've been searching around for lodging in Galena. You've checked out hotels, motels, Airbnbs and traditional B&Bs. You've looked at websites and photos. You've read reviews, and compared prices. Here you are on our website, thinking about making us part of your visit to Galena.

We're flattered and thrilled to have you here! We're the 6th owners of the Aldrich Guest House, which was built in 1845 and has been a bed and breakfast since 1984. Abraham Lincoln hung out here in 1856 and Ulysses Grant came to dinner quite often in the late 1800s. We've been the innkeepers for the last decade, and we love it! Between the two of us, we've been in hospitality for over half a century.

We've won awards for our home cooked breakfasts, our gardens, and our service. You work hard and you deserve a vacation. Come stay with us and relax in an unpretentious, laid-back environment. Be yourself and let your guard down.
Services
A quiet room with a queen size bed in the original part of the house with wide-plank pine floors and angled ceilings.
Don't let the photos fool you - you won't hit your head by the bed where the ceiling is lowest.
You're sleeping there, not jumping on the bed.hopefully!
Featuring art by one of the innkeepers, a private bath with claw foot tub, and individually controlled heat and A/C.
The largest in the house, this room has a queen sized bed, a sitting area with a loveseat in a bay window at the front of the house with views of the Washburne Home and our gardens.
Individually controlled heat and A/C, an extra large private bath with original claw foot tub and a pedestal sink, this room was the Master Suite during the time that the McClellans owned the home in the 1860s.
Hip and historic, our boutique hotel in Galena is in walking distance of award-winning restaurants, cool art galleries and cultural happenings, and craft beers loved by locals.
No wonder the National Trust of Historic Preservation recognized the city of Galena as one of "America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations."

The owners, Robert and Douglas, are awesome and provide spectacular guest service. From the personal call to me a couple days prior to arrival to discuss any needs; to the tour of the entire house upon our arrival; to taking our luggage up to our room (unbeknownst to us); to their 5:00 pm daily happy hour; to their little “potting shed” where guests can consume their cannabis without disturbing the other non-participating guests; to the educational cannabis counsel provided to me; to the beautiful, comfortable room; to the delicious breakfast; to the handwritten thank you note given us upon our departure. Every detail, and well beyond, is meticulously thought of and executed. Robert & Douglas are the consumate innkeepers and provide outstanding customer service to their guests. It is very evident that they take great pride in their business. Worth every penny!!
