The sloping strand offers gentle surf generally without strong currents.
The water temperature is on the average 10 degrees warmer than the Outer Banks area.
On the East end of the Island you can visit Ferry Landing Park with a gazebo, picnic tables, fishing pier (don't forget a fishing license) and beautiful views of the Intracoastal Waterway.
