Services
Ted and Molly Poister, your convivial hosts, welcome you to the Captain Kinne House Bed and Breakfast!
Molly grew up in the Finger Lakes, in nearby Interlaken, where her father was the last of the country doctors who made house-calls all around this area.
Ted grew up in Syracuse and met Molly in the Chapel Choir at Syracuse University, which was directed by his father.
They were married nearly 50 years ago and spent their first two years together as Peace Corps volunteers in Valdivia, Chile.
Since then they have lived in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, and they now divide their time between Atlanta, Georgia, and the Kinne House.
Wake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee as early as 8am, but by all means, begin your day when you want.
A delicious three course breakfast will be carefully and expertly prepared by Molly and served in the dining room at 9 a.m.
Molly has years of experience in hospitality and is an exceptional chef.
Breakfast menus change daily, as she likes to take advantage of fresh, in season fruits and berries, like blackberries that grow profusely down behind the big barn, as well as other fresh fruits like raspberries, strawberries, peaches, and blueberries which are so abundant in the Finger Lakes.
A sky blue suite with a queen-sized, cherry poster-bed covered with a scalloped, all- white matelasse spread.
Opposite the bed is the fireplace graced with period antiques and detailed woodwork.
You can't miss chuckling at the blue-spattered chamber pot tucked underneath the bed!
The floors are polished, random-width pine boards topped by a braided rug handmade by Molly's grandmother.
One of the chairs in the room, newly upholstered, was found in the millhouse and is thought to have been used somewhere in the house.
Looking out beyond the creek to the hay-baled meadow is the Meadowview Suite, with its own balcony from which to survey your surroundings-the lane, the meadow, and the outbuildings including the smokehouse and the mill.
This suite of rooms is painted a lively yellow and features a four-poster, queen-sized, carved walnut rice bed, topped with a colorfully-patterned quilt reminiscent of a meadow of flowers.
A built-in corner cupboard showcases antique samplers and china.
Another handsome chair found in the millhouse has been reupholstered and sits beside a pleasing writing desk.
In honor of the many vineyards along Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, ferns and vines adorn the largest of our bedrooms, the sage-colored Vineyard Room.
A spacious, dark-green iron queen- sized bed accented with grapevines, a quilt of butterflies and green ferns, and airy side curtains makes one feel relaxed and refreshed.
It is only steps to the outside front balcony, and to your private bath complete with walk-in shower and featuring an exposed wall of the original, weathered brickwork.
Complimentary robes are provided for your enjoyment and relaxation.
