Legends state that Buddy Freeman built Freeman's Bass Lake Lodge about a mile west of the current Ducey's location in the year 1941.
He sold his bar, restaurant and rental cabins; and as the property changed hands again, a couple from Fresno re-christened it as Ducey's Bass Lake Lodge in 1950.
For the next twenty years, Ducey's on the Lake gained popularity amongst locals and travelers and became the legendary diner that it is today.
