He, his wife Mary Warbeck Ashburn, and their six sons began moving to America in1805.
Sadly, before they sailed, his wife Mary died.
The remainder of the family, along with Thomas' elderly mother, went forward with the plans and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Thomas met Susanna Wiser in Cincinnati, they married and had one daughter, Anna.
Susanna was now the mother of seven children.
While they lived in Cincinnati, Thomas ran a stone and gravel business, which he sold in 1810.
Shortly afterward he bought 885 acres adjoining New Richmond and used the land to help create the residential village that he named "Susanna" in 1816.

We have a canoe and boat rides, bicycles, a large side yard big enough for sports like volley ball, walking tours of New Richmond are available and we even offer riding lessons nearby!
