There was this relatively untapped resource under the waters in the Bays.
Apalachicola was sitting on a "gold mine": oysters!
But the locals had not perfected a fast way of "shucking" or opening the oysters.
There had to be a faster way in order to market a ready-to-eat product.
The Northerners knew how to do it - Chesapeake bay was proof of that - but Apalachicola was so isolated.
Then it happened.
The Railway was finally completed, connecting Apalachicola to the Northeastern States.
