This historic home was built in 1880 as a lavish private residence for Dr. John Westcott, well known for his prominent military career, interests in transportation and politics, and research efforts in the cause and cure of yellow fever.
He was a land surveyor for the St. Johns Railroad (whose tracks spread from the San Sebastian River to Tocoi) and was a heavy hitter in the development of the Intracoastal Waterway that links the St. Johns River to Miami. Today, Bayfront Westcott House is a 16-room, full-service luxury bed and breakfast.

We found this B&B on our recent trip to Florida, having arrived in St Augustine with no accomodation booked.
We got very lucky by finding this gem!
The B&B is operated by a lovely friendly English couple, who extend a very warm welcome.
Andy even put change in the parking meter outside for me!
The B&B overlooks the bay, although the room we stayed in didn't have a view over the bay.
In the evening there was a happy hour, where complimentary beers and nibbles were laid on for the guests.
Relaxing on the veranda looking out over a beautiful Florida sunset is a great way to spend an October evening.

You will be required to present your marriage license and valid photo ID at time of your elopement ceremony.
