The mountain region is seamlessly divided into districts comprising of towns, villages, communities and state parks, each with it's own charm. This list of districts, below, is by no means a complete breakdown of the region, but one that is meant to make sense from the standpoint of our visitors, based on the number of attractions the average visitor will find in each area.
The area is known for its long history, nightlife, and outdoor activities. Just west of the PA / New Jersey border and east of the Scranton / Wilkes Barre metropolitan areas, the region has a somewhat slower paced atmosphere and, when visiting, most find it provides a soothing break from the typical hustle - bustle of any of the surrounding cities.
Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg are situated at the eastern entrance and are the hub of business and nightlife. Stroudsburg is the official governmental seat, has a small town shopping district and most of the "Big Box" stores. It also has many tourist attractions along its quaint streets.
