Services
Not knowing what to expect, we headed out to a PetSmart in Northern Virginia where a rescue organization was showing some dogs.
Little did we know, that morning would be the start of many beautiful relationships both human and canine.
At the PetSmart was the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
They had probably a dozen dogs of all breed mixes and backgrounds.
We thought we liked two - a 6-month old golden hound mix named Maxwell (who seemed laid back and really wanted to engage with people) and another named Jewel (a high-energy, spunky girl who would likely keep us on our toes).

At Sundogs we strive to provide a safe home for wildlife.
We have great diversity in plant species that provide food and shelter including virginia pines, eastern red cedar, Persimmons, Pawpaws, oak, cherry, viburnum, grasses and forbes.
Many areas are left natural and 'messy' to provide food as well as nesting and den sites.
Dead trees, rotting logs and leaf litter are important parts of a healthy ecosystem.
We are continually working to remove invasive plants and replace with native plants to provide a more abundant food source for our native birds and butterflies.

Peggy's previous career as a professional horticulturist and garden designer are serving her well in the development of the gardens at Sundogs.
Her and David's love and respect for nature show in the lovely animal- and pollinator-friendly gardens taking shape around the property.
Allowing nature to guide the master plan by working within the natural diversity of the native landscape comprised of rolling fields, beautiful native trees (including the pawpaw), and natural rock outcroppings, the new plantings flow seamlessly with the existing landscape enhancing rather than overshadowing its natural beauty.

Staying on the trails is recommended and please keep an eye out for ground hog holes and ground nesting bees.
