Established in the mid-1920s, the Louisiana Hotel & Lodging Association is the recognized ambassador of the hotel industry in Louisiana. Initially created purely for the benefit of its members, as time passed it grew to serve not only the industry, but governmental agencies, the Louisiana Legislature, other industry components, many locales across the state and the public in general.

The Louisiana Hotel & Lodging Association is an established leader in the state capital, providing a high degree of advocacy for the hotel industry and the tourist industry as a whole. It is clearly the public face of the industry to government and has earned a great deal of respect in Baton Rouge and Washington, D.C. Besides governmental affairs, the association also champions improved educational opportunities for the tourism industry.

It has been instrumental in creating the HRT program at the University of New Orleans as well as numerous associate degree programs at community colleges and high school programs across the state to the benefit of the industry and the citizenry.
