The Indigo Inn was once a foundation of the Charleston textile industry, originally constructed as an inventory warehouse to store indigo dye.
Eventually, the buildings that stood at 226-228 Meeting Street were demolished, with the exception of the Victorian style cast-iron facade ornamentation.
Over time, the remaining property was occupied by various tenants, including a wholesale dry goods merchant and a boot & shoe manufacturer.
