Services
Bill grew up in the bedroom community of Manhasset, LI, New York, while Patti grew up in the town next door, Great Neck, LI, NY.
We met in 1962 and married in 1965.
Bill worked for Hess Oil and Patti was a stay at home Mom.
We moved to southern Vermont in 1970 from the north shore of Long Island.
We had come to visit friends from our home town, Bob and Audrey Gregory.
Our visit was so wonderful we decided to uproot our small family and relocate in the rural town of Halifax, Vermont.
We bought our run down farm in the winter with a massive amount of snow on the ground.

The large spacious rooms of Shearer Hill Farm provide our guests with comfort and quiet.
There are six rooms each with a private bath.
We have either king or twin beds available and several of the rooms can be fitted with roll-a-way single beds to accommodate an extra person or children.
Each room is equipped with a ceiling fan to provide cool mountain breeze on a warm summer night.
Because the farm is high and each room has more than one window the cross ventilation is delightful.
We have three bedrooms in the main house and our ground floor room in the Carriage House is handicap accessible.

We discovered several years ago that our guests absolutely love waking up in the morning, not only to the smell of freshly baked muffins and coffee, but to baked apples with our very own maple syrup.
We use Vermont apples whenever posssible, generally Early Macs because they ripen in mid-August through early September, which is perfect timing for our fall vacationers.
Or, if our guests prefer a more tart apple to offset the sweetness of the maple syrup, we use Granny Smiths.
We've perfected a recipe and baking process that results in a simply delicious breakfast.

If you haven't experienced maple sugaring first hand, we have great news!
If you stay with us in the spring, generally throughout March and sometimes into early April, you can join us for maple sugaring in our very own private sugarhouse.
We're the only Vermont bed and breakfast that we know of with their own sugarhouse.
Our sugarhouse is locate a few hundred yards from the bed and breakfast and each year we tap the 100-year old maple trees around our property, gather the sap, and boil 40 to 50 gallons of maple syrup, which is in turn sold to our guest throughout the year.

We're fortunate that our bed and breakfast is located off-the-beaten-path as well, in a very scenic area of southern Vermont.
The B&B is on a dirt road which we believe is part of the appeal.
We're away from the busy main roads and all the cars.
It's quiet and peaceful here, yet if you want to go into town, we're only 15 minutes from lots of shopping, restaurants and events.
Many of our customers comment that Bill and I are very friendly 'down to Earth' people, which we take as a great compliment.
