Experience our warm and friendly Mountain Western Retro atmosphere. Our unique "Boutique" motel provides guests with a sense of tranquility while allowing them to enjoy the many exceptional amenities available in each of our motel rooms. The Mountain Motel welcomed its first guests in 1947. In 1996, six more rooms were built to accommodate the tremendous influx of visitors to the motel.
The Mountain Motel has been a family endeavor, being locally owned and operated since 1947 - over 55 years! After transforming the office area into a lounge and reading room, the energetic owner set to work to begin outfitting the remaining nine rooms with an exhaustive inventory of Mountain Western Retro furniture, fixtures and room decor. The vision to make the Mountain Motel, Salida's FIRST "boutique motel" and reinventing an American icon - the roadside motel!
Foremost in the minds of the staff at the Mountain Motel is to provide guests with a comfortable, cozy, distinctive and memorable stay. One-size DOES NOT fit all!

Services
Our quaint retreat is nestled in the picturesque Arkansas River Valley and more specifically on the East side of Salida, Colorado.
The Mountain Motel is located on the East end of Rainbow Blvd, commonly known as Hwy 50.
After visiting Salida for years and staying at several other locations in the area I have found the only place I want to recommend to visitors to our mountains.
As a Colorado native serving visitors in many capacities this is the first location that has the given ability to care for guests.

Thank you for allowing me to stay at your motel, as one of your dog guests, because after miles of trails with my Owner I was anxiously awaiting a restful night that turned into two.
Irene thank you for the gentle caress as it made me know I was truly welcomed.

Four (Yes 4!) Fluffy pillows on each Full/ Queen Bed (includes freshly ironed pillow cases).
LOBBY: Casual lounge to relax and enjoy the book and magazine library or chat with new friends.
Prospecting the cyber sites for a place for a place to get in out of the cold and bed down, I happened upon the site of Mountain Motel in Salida.
It caught my interest--nothing big and fancy like corporate hotels--but warm, cozy, and comfortable and maybe friendly.
Calling on the land line to the registration desk, I talked to the proprietor Irene about the location and amenities.

I doubt that even a few days have gone by without my thinking about my wonderful stay there.
And, yes, Colorado used to be my home and is still my "heart" home.
Irene is one of those rare, remarkable, caring and engaging individuals.
The motel really reflects her and her heart and style.
I was so happy to be there and in Salida that I stayed twice as long as I intended to, and will, for sure, return as soon as I can.
She is making the motel a very, very special place.
I stayed in Room 1.
It was so authentically "mountain" without being overdone.

We stayed in cabin 9 for one night as we was just passing through, but overall it was a very nice little cozy place to stay.
I love old rustic cabins fit in just right.
The owner talked to us over the phone and gave us great directions then left the cabin unlocked and turned on the heat because we were arriving late.
Although the price when checking out was higher then she quoted me over the phone a month before I didn't make a big deal because we had such a pleasnant experience.
If you travel to salida I would definetly stay here as oppossed to any other chain hotel.
