While we are still enjoying the journey, we have decided to modify the hotel operations to a 'bed & breakfast' beginning in the Spring of 2022 - which means - our restaurant will remain open through New Year's Eve, 2021. If you would like to enjoy dinner or Sunday Brunch with us, there is still plenty of time to do so. We (Doug & Garth) will continue to run the hotel as innkeepers, so we hope you will keep us in your travel plans as you are all such cherished friends to us.
As you know, the hotel is for sale & it is our plan to operate as a 'rooms only' business until that special buyer is found (and yes, Garth will still be on board to make you a delicious breakfast)! After 21 amazing years of business & extraordinary memories, we are profoundly grateful to you. See you soon! The American Hotel was built ca. 1842 by Nicholas LaRue.
After being vacant for more than 30 years, current owners Doug Plummer and Garth Roberts purchased the decaying structure in 1996. Now celebrating it's 17th season, the American Hotel has become a favorite getaway to thousands of visitors throughout the year.
