The Watermark Hotel Company was founded by Texas entrepreneur Patrick J. Kennedy and is built upon the extraordinary success of San Antonio's historic River Walk hotels: La Mansion del Rio Hotel, which opened for Hemisfair 1968 and Watermark Hotel & Spa, which opened to great acclaim in 2003. Both of these hotels received extraordinary national and international travel industry recognition.
When Kennedy sold these two hotel properties, he retained ownership of the Watermark brand and renamed the company, Watermark Hotel Company, with plans to develop a singular collection of hotels and condominium residences.
