Old Rittenhouse Inn is a Queen Anne Victorian home completed in summer of 1890 as a summer residence.
Mary and Jerry Phillips purchased the home in 1973 and began running Wisconsin's first Bed and Breakfast.
The exterior of the house is a combination of native Lake Superior brownstone, creamery brick and shingles.
Originally painted a dark green and shaded by massive pine trees, today it is more true to its "painted lady" architecture with a total of seven paint colors on the current version.
The rooms on the main floor originally served as the kitchen, formal parlor, family room and dining room.
