Services
Breakfast on the Connecticut was built in 1996 in the tradition of Shaker simplicity.
The New England Inn's 15 guest rooms are bright, airy and uncluttered, almost evenly split between the Main House and the attached 12 sided Shaker barn.
Breakfast on the Connecticut sits on 23 acres in rural Lyme, just a dozen miles north of Hanover and Dartmouth College.
Attention to detail somewhat belies the Shaker simplicity.
There is cherry trim throughout, granite counter-tops, a stunning cherry spiral staircase leading to our two suites, reproduction Shaker furniture blended with antiques, a parlor grand and Pompanoosuc Mills furniture in the breakfast room of our New England inn.
Breakfast is where Breakfast on the Connecticut gets its name.
From our spacious kitchen comes a full, hearty New England breakfast offering each morning from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
The day begins with the enticing aroma of fresh-brewed coffee made with pure water from our deep artisan well or a choice from our array of teas and cocoa.
Our sun-drenched dining room awaits with an array of fresh fruit, juice, cereals, yogurt and freshly baked scone, muffin or coffeecake.
Then a tough decision, cinnamon French toast or a vegetable omelet, buttermilk waffles or southwestern frittata, blueberry pancakes or asparagus puff with vegetable confetti.
Turn dough out onto a floured work surface and bring it together with a few quick kneads.
Pat the dough into a square and roll it into an 810-inch rectangle, using plenty of flour to keep from sticking.
Dust the excess flour off the surface of the dough and fold in three (like a business letter).
Roll blitz puff with a rolling pin to form an 812 rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick.
With a short side toward you, trim to even the edges.
Spoon the pesto onto the center of the rectangle; use a rubber spatula to spread it in a very thin, even layer to the edges of the pastry.
Breakfast on the Connecticut is the perfect setting for New England weddings.
Whether it is a small affair, 50 or less, or a larger function, up to 125, we will work to make your special day truly memorable.
