In 1783, Lord Denys Rolle set sail for Exuma on board an English trading ship, the Peace and Plenty.
Upon arrival, he established a cotton plantation of the same name here on the island.
The old plantation cookhouse became the club's bar.
The hotel's main lobby has its own history as a sponge warehouse and later the home of a prominent island family, the Minns.
